Become an Assistant
Volunteer Application

                                       Why Join L'Arche?

People who have an intellectual disability need support in their everyday lives. In L’Arche, volunteers or employees who choose to share their life ‘assist’ them in a wide variety of tasks or work in a workshop or day activity center. L’Arche will try and find a setting that matches your own wishes and abilities, in conjunction with the openings available in the community. The most important ‘thing’ you bring… is yourself! L’Arche is more than a service-provider. Joining L’Arche is more than a job.

To Embark on a Personal Journey

For many, L’Arche is a life changing experience of self-discovery and personal growth. Current and former assistants speak to and draw from their experiences of mutuality, leadership and personal spiritual journey.

To Create a World Where Everyone Belongs

While our society often celebrates success and efficiency, L'Arche offers a different approach - celebrating the gifts and honoring the shortcomings of its members. Come and learn from the wisdom of the vulnerable, and grow through the joys and struggles of those who choose to live in community as assistants.

To Live and Work with Intentionality

L'Arche is more than a service-provider and living at L'Arche is more than a job.

L'Arche provides space to explore new horizons by entering a community that finds hope and joy in the gifts and challenges of the "ordinary" life lived intentionally.
