About L’Arche Noah Sealth of Seattle

Founded in 1975

L'Arche Noah Sealth provides three homes and day activities for people with developmental disabilities (Core Members). They are supported by their caregivers (Assistants) who come to live in and share life with them.

Though founded and rooted in Roman Catholicism, we are an ecumenical, intentional faith community and a community where all religious traditions, or none at all are respected.

LIFE IN L’ARCHE

Core Members and Assistants live together in mutual relationship. Our Assistants come from all over the US and the world. Assistants receive a small stipend, room and board, and if a US citizen, are eligible for an AmeriCorps service award. We are honored to also receive the support and fellowship of associate members and volunteers from the greater Seattle area. Core Members are financially supported through the State of Washington’s Division of Developmental Disabilities and through our generous benefactors.

L’Arche Noah Sealth has a day activity center too, Mamook. The center provides activities for our core members and includes card and candle making.

In L'Arche we do ordinary things in extraordinary ways (Jean Vanier). Daily life begins with morning routines of preparing folks for their day programs, followed by meetings and staff development training. By 2 PM Assistants are home to welcome home the Core Members for afternoon activities and relaxation. A cornerstone of community life is suppertime. The members of the houses come together each evening to prepare and share the evening meal together, followed by thanksgiving and prayer for our life together. Evenings include many outside activities and/or time to rest and be with one another.
